Pueblo Gardens PreK-8 School is an ongoing partner of SRTS. During the 2024-2025 school year middle schoolers will participate in a weekly bike club to explore their neighborhood and learn safe bike-riding skills.
In the Fall of 2023 we worked with Pueblo Gardens to transform the street in front of Pueblo Gardens to bring curb extensions, a new cross walk, student artwork, and beautiful native plants – creating a streetscape that is calmer, safer, and more beautiful. We hosted a Block Painting Party and had a fantastic time with students, their families, staff and teachers, and neighbors – painting, dancing, and playing in the street while making it a safer place for students.
This coming Summer BICAS will host a four-day Youth Earn A Bike course at Pueblo Gardens school during their summer school session. The last time BICAS hosted this Youth Earn A Bike camp, ten students learned the ins and outs of how a bike works by building their own bike and helping classmates during the process. All students were able to keep the bike, helmet, U-lock, and light set at the end of the course. The participants were excited to learn some basic mechanics skills and be able to ride the bike home at the end of the course.
