Pueblo Gardens PreK-8 School is an ongoing partner of SRTS. During the 2022-2023 school year middle schoolers participated in a weekly bike club to explore their neighborhood and learn safe bike-riding skills.
BICAS hosted a four-day Youth Earn a Bike course at Pueblo Gardens school during their summer school session. Ten students learned the ins and outs of how a bike works by building their own bike and helping classmates during the process. All students were able to keep the bike, helmet, U-lock, and light set at the end of the course. The participants were excited to learn some basic mechanics skills and be able to ride the bike home at the end of the course. Thanks BICAS for partnering with LSA to provide this experience to students!
A traffic-calming project is also on the way in front of the school (Silvosa & Plumber intersection). A crosswalk with curb extensions and art will be installed with the help of the community on September 30 during a Block Painting Party. This crosswalk and curb extension treatment will help make getting to school a safer experience for students and parents. Join your neighbors on September 30 and participate in the block painting party!
