Since 2017, Los Amigos Technology Academy teachers and parents have organized Walk ‘N Roll Wednesdays with anywhere from 200-300 students walking, biking and scooting to school along five walking school bus routes and a bicycle train route. The School Health Advisory Committee does a fabulous job getting their students excited for active travel, even inviting special guests to join in on the walking fun. The photo above features students who participated in a Walk ‘N Roll Friday with Wilbur the Wildcat (check out his roller blades!)
During the 2021-2022 school year, Los Amigos has resumed Walk ‘N Roll Wednesdays after it not being possible during the previous school year due to the pandemic. The return of the program has been successful and continues to be a highlight of the week with no less than 100 participants each week.
The momentum continues to grow and because of the school’s efforts and outpouring support of families, school administration and community leaders, families will soon be able to enjoy a multi-use walking and biking path along Drexel Road, a critical connector to the school and other neighborhood destinations.
